Welcome to an Adventure Like No Other: Run Under the Midnight Sun in Tromsø!

At Advocate Events, we’re proud to invite you to an unparalleled experience in the far north of Norway, 350k north of the Arctic Circle! This is in partnership with the Edward Showler Foundation who are working towards a brighter future for sarcoma patients. Picture yourself running through pristine Arctic landscapes, with snow-capped mountains and the deep fjords of Tromsø as your backdrop, all under the mesmerising glow of the midnight sun. This is more than just a run; it’s an unforgettable journey to the edge of the Arctic Circle, where daylight stretches endlessly through the night.

In June 2025, we’re offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run in Tromsø, under the midnight sun. This phenomenon occurs only in Arctic regions during the summer months, where the sun never sets, casting an ethereal light over the landscapes.

What distances are available?

There’s a distance for every runner to take part in this unique event, challenging their limits in one of the world’s most extraordinary settings.

5k – No age limit.

10k – 13 years and over.

Half Marathon – 15 years and over.

Full Marathon – 18 Years and Over.

What to Expect in Tromsø in June:

The summer months in Tromsø reveal a different side of the Arctic, with milder temperatures, lush greenery, and stunning views of the Norwegian fjords. With average temperatures ranging between 8°C and 15°C, conditions are perfect for a comfortable yet exhilarating run. The midnight sun bathes everything in a golden glow, creating an atmosphere that feels otherworldly, almost surreal. You’ll be crossing the finish line surrounded by nature, as sunlight filters through the mountains in the middle of the night – an experience few will ever have.

Beyond the race itself, Tromsø offers a wealth of activities that celebrate the natural beauty and cultural richness of Norway. From hiking and wildlife watching to exploring vibrant local traditions, our trip will include opportunities to truly connect with this beautiful part of the world. You’ll also have the chance to bond with fellow runners and adventurers from across the globe, sharing in an inspiring journey together.

Thursday 19th June: Fly from London to Tromso Airport

Friday 20th June: Free time in Tromso

Saturday 21st June: Run in the Midnight Sun

Hiking time: 5 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest

After breakfast we drive to Marangu Gate (1980m) where porters organise and pack our equipment while we register. We then transfer by vehicle (2.5 hours) to Rongai trailhead. The trail begins in tall cornfields and leads into pine forest. Gradual ascent. Great views. About halfway up the trail we will have lunch. Arrive at 1st Caves Camp early evening. The porters and chef will reach camp beforehand, set up tents, boil drinking water, and prepare snacks. Hot dinner will be served. Temperatures may drop to freezing, be prepared!

Sunday 22nd June: Recovery and Free Time

Monday 23rd June: Travel back to London From Tromso

Truly a remarkable experience for this challenging event. Cannot begin to describe the way you feel when you are actually starting the climb through the rainforest. Seeing so much wonderful natural vegetation and the way of life of the people living and farming. The moorlands then become more barren and the ever changing weather conditions rising above the clouds. The alpine desert onwards and upwards is harsh. The climb to the summit will be ingrained in my memory forever. The Rama and teamraha were unreal – such a happy group of people who worked continuously day and night. Very professional – knew our group inside out and got us to the summit – INCREDIBLE! Martyn – I felt safe, looked after like a queen and I thank you and Advocate events for a trip of a life time !

Frequently asked questions…

What hotel will we be staying at?

We work with Scandic Ishavshotell and Thon Polar and Thon Tromsø hotels. These city center hotels are within walking distance of both the start and finish areas at Midnight Sun Run.

Are airport transfers covered in the price?

Yes! Transport to and from the airport to your hotel are covered in the price. Tromso is a small island that is about 10km from north to south. The airport is located on the island itself, and transfers take about ten minutes to get to the city center (somewhat longer during rush hour).

What time does the run start?

The running events take place on Saturday the 21st June.

Races start at various times throughout the evening, starting at 6pm with the mini marathon, and last race to start is the half marathon at 9pm

What else is there to do in Tromso?

This city is perfect for those who love adventure and nature. Here you can hunt for the Northern Lights, sail in the midnight sun, or take a dog sled ride through untouched nature.
