A challenge you’ll never forget, with the support you need to succeed
Take on one of England’s most loved hiking challenges with the support and expertise of our wonderful team here at Advocate Events.
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is a demanding but rewarding trek across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough — covering 24 miles and over 1,500m of ascent.
We run this event throughout the year for groups of 8 or more people. Whether you’re raising money, marking a milestone, or simply seeking a challenge, we’ll take care of everything so you can focus on putting one foot in front of the other.
Why choose Advocate Events?
We’ve been guiding groups across all of the UK’s peaks for years, and we know how to make it feel personal, supportive, and memorable. We keep our groups small and well organised so that everyone has the maximum chance to succeed in every challenge.
“Every detail was thought through and taken care of. We felt supported the whole way and couldn’t have asked for better guides”
“Advocate Events made sure everything ran like clockwork, from the hotel to the summit. It was hard work, but we always felt in safe hands.”
We’re proud of the trust our customers place in us — and we work hard to earn it every time.
Who is it for?
This is a physically demanding challenge, but it’s achievable for anyone with a good basic level of fitness and determination. Many of our clients have never done anything like this before and that’s exactly what makes it such a special achievement.
What our guests say

Frequently asked questions…
How big will the group be?
We operate small-group adventures and will normally have 8 participants on this event.
Who can take part in this challenge?
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is open to people of all ages and abilities. The minimum
age to take part is 16 years, and those under the age of 18 must be accompanied at
all times by a responsible adult. We request that there is at least one adult present
for every two participants under 18.
What is the pace of the hike?
The pace on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks is brisk as we need to ensure everyone makes the 12 hour cut off target.
Fitness is key for this challenge if you have not prepared then the distance and pace may catch you out. We will work with each individual participant to ensure they have a training plan to suit.
Can I take my dog on the challenge?
Unfortunately not…whilst we are dog lovers here at Advocate Events we have to consider all participants who may not wish to share a minibus with our canine friends!
How many Mountain Leaders in the group?
We have 1 mountain leader for every 8-10 people.
What level of fitness do I need for this challenge?
A reasonable level of fitness is required to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. We will give individual advice to hikers based on their current level of fitness.
You will have a much more enjoyable time if you have a good level of fitness. Walking, running, swimming and of course hiking are all good ways of building up your cardiovascular fitness and will get you ready for this adventure.
Make sure you test your fitness on a practice hike like Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), or other steep challenge near you.
What support is available for this event?
Advocate Events staff will meet you at the agreed pickup point and will be with you
for the duration of the event.
Our Mountain Leaders are fully qualified, vastly experienced and great company. They are also trained first aiders. You will also have full support on the ground during the event. Advocate Events staff have organised and participated in many 3 Peaks Challenges so rest assured you are in safe hands!
Although the event is designed to challenge you, we will not put anyone’s safety at risk and support will be available at all times. The Advocate Events team is on hand every step of the way, to help and advise you.
We will also accompany you on your return to an agreed drop off point after your challenge.
Are there toilet facilities on the mountains?
There are facilities at the base of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon and a cafe at
the top of Snowdon (if open). If you are caught short on the mountains our guides will
discreetly show you where to go!
What is the terrain like?
There are well defined paths up to and between each summit.
What is the accommodation like?
We will stay in comfortable accommodation as near to Horton-in-Ribblesdale as is possible.
You will be sharing a room with an ensuite-bathroom. Rooms are twin occupancy with a small number of single rooms, which carry single supplement charges, should one be requested.
Rooms are based on single sex occupancy; couples will be kept together. We will ask you as our challenge date approaches whether there is someone in particular you would like to share a room with.
What weather can I expect?
As with any outdoor event, we are unable to predict the weather so each participant
must be prepared for all eventualities. You will need to carry wet weather gear
and warm layers with you on the day of the challenge.
Do I need insurance?
Whilst we arrange the appropriate public liability and employer’s liability insurance we
strongly advise all participants to take out their own insurance to cover them for personal possessions which can be arranged for around £10.
We also advise you take out insurance to cover the cost of the event should you become injured or unwell and have to cancel the trip after the cancelation period stated in your Terms and Conditions. If you require further information please contact us.
Due to the nature of this outdoor activity, participants should accept a certain element of risk. Our guides will do everything in their power to minimise the risks where possible. In the interests of safety all participants must abide by any decisions made by the
guides.
